Most of what quilters buy is the 5000 series, which is lighter and better balanced in the hand. That covers the N5100B and 5100 in 4 inch, the N5130 double curved embroidery scissor, the N5135 and N5135C in 5.5 inch straight and curved, the V5165T at 6.5 inch, the 5350 pinking shears and the N5125 thread snips. The 7000 series is the heavier professional line, built for cutting through layers all day, and we carry the 7205 tailoring shears and the 7280 at 11 inch.
Not sure which to get? For general yardage cutting the 8 inch Ergonomix shears are the default answer. For piecing, the N3210SE serrated blade grips cotton instead of pushing it ahead of the blade. For trimming at the machine, the thread snips. Left handers get true left handed shears in the N5210L and N5220L, properly reground rather than mirrored handles, plus a lefty gift set.
